 Men's Rugby at DeSales

The DeSales University Men’s Rugby Club will play a charity game on Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the DeSales Intramural Field (between Tocik and Conmy Halls) on the Center Valley, Pa., campus. All proceeds from the sale of food and t-shirts will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

“The Wounded Warrior cause is one that hits home for DeSales rugby as one of our alumni went into the Armed Forces and currently is in Ranger School,” said team president, Tim Hofmeister. “The DeSales rugby club has decided to honor those who have fallen and been injured.”

The mission of WWP is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP is a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. To get involved and learn more, visit woundedwarriorproject.org.

Formed in 2011, the rugby team, which is a club sport at DeSales, is made up of twenty players from all majors. Hofmeister, and C.J. Rudy, match secretary, create a schedule of six games a semester, including matches against Washington and Ursinus colleges and LaSalle, Widener, and Neumann universities.
