On Monday, October 26, 2015, Dave Rowan, executive vice president and chief revenue officer, and Ashley Dabb, vice president of marketing and communications for the Philadelphia Union Major League Soccer team will speak to DeSales University sport management majors. The talk will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Commonwealth Room of the DeSales University Center.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dave Rowan and Ashley Dabb as the first guests in the 2015-2015 Sport Management Society Speaker Series,” said Dr. Lauren Brown, assistant professor of sport management. “The insight into Mr. Rowan’s and Ms. Dabb’s varied professional experiences is invaluable to our students as they look to develop their own careers in sport.”
Before starting with the Union in 2010, Rowan was general sales manager at CBS Sports Group, vice president of sales and service for the Philadelphia Eagles, and vice president of corporate sales for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rowan earned a bachelor of science in secondary education and economics from Penn State University.
Dabb, who has been with the Union since 2008, was previously field house supervisor at St. Joseph University and interned at the Atlantic 10 Shootout and the Trenton Thunder. Dabb earned her bachelor of science in sport marketing and Spanish from St. Joseph’s, and a master’s degree in sport management from Neumann University.
Philadelphia was awarded Major League Soccer's 16th team on February 28, 2008. Led by the ownership group of Keystone Sports and Entertainment, LLC, the club operated under the name MLS Philadelphia 2010 for all of 2008 and the early portion of 2009. On May 11, 2009 the club announced its name, crest and colors.
