Three experts will be part of a panel discussion for the DeSales University Forensic Forum at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, in the Commonwealth Room of the DeSales University Center on the University’s Center Valley, Pa., campus. Admission is free.
The topic of the forum, which is sponsored by Sponsored by the DeSales Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Program, will be Preparation and Protection: Active Shooter Incident Response will be topic.
The three presenters are:
Peter Langman, Ph.D., (above left) is an expert on the psychology of school shooters. His new book, School Shooters: Understanding High School, College, and Adult Perpetrators, covers 48 cases. In the wake of the Sandy Hook attack, his recommendations on preventing school shootings were presented by the CEO of the American Psychological Association to President Obama. He has appeared on The Today Show, CBS-TV, CNN, NPR, Fox, and the BBC.
Diana Sorrentino, Ph.D., is the director of Security and Intelligence Operations with Lehigh Valley Paladin, LLC, which provide executive and personal protection. Dr. Sorrentino, a veteran of the Navy, has served as an intelligence officer and analyst for the military. Currently, she is a licensed executive protection agent, and she contributes regularly to WFMZ Channel 69 News.
Jeffrey W. Tomlinson, M. A., (above right) is an assistant professor at DeSales University. Previously, he served for 20 years as a Special Agent for the FBI. Tomlinson supervised the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (PH-JTTF) in Philadelphia and served in the FBI Counterterrorism Division in Washington, D.C. For three years, he was the Director of Safety for the Hatboro-Horsham School District in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. His duties included training students, faculty, and staff for “active shooter” situations.
